Right at Home Northern Territory
Welcome to our first franchise owners in the Northern Territory, Lyle and Sonia Mackay!
Lyle and Sonia have been providing clinical nursing and community care services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). They are seeking to grow their business under the Right at Home brand.
Sonia has been working as a Registered Nurse for many years. She has worked across several hospital departments in South Africa and Australia including ED, ICU, medical, surgical, hospice, orthopaedic, paediatric, neonatal, high care, ICU, peritoneal, haemodialysis and transplants, cancer, and aged care homes.
Lyle was the Community Involvement Aldermen on the Palmerston Town Council for two terms and received the Palmerston Citizen of the Year Award. He is Secretary of the Satellite City BMX Club, Vice President of the Waratah Football Club, Chairman of the Litchfield and Darwin Rugby Leagues, and President of the NT Rugby League. Right at Home Geelong
We’re proud to introduce Right at Home Geelong co-owners Edwina Hill and Lacey McKenna!
Long-time colleagues and friends, Edwina and Lacey began their professional careers at St. Vincent’s Public Hospital in Melbourne in 2005. Since then, the Registered Nurses have shared a commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. Edwina and Lacey bring to Right at Home more than 20 years of nursing experience across public and private hospitals in both Melbourne and Geelong.
In 2011, Edwina completed postgraduate studies in intensive care nursing, earning a Certificate of Nursing (Intensive Care), which deepened her understanding of complex health needs and patient-centred care. Looking to step back from the hospital system, Edwina transitioned into a new role as Practice Manager at a Geelong-based allied health provider. This experience gave her valuable insight into the aged care sector and NDIS.
“I found great purpose in helping clients navigate their care options and supporting them in achieving their full potential,” Edwina says.
“That purpose and passion has carried over into our work with Right at Home.
“Establishing Right at Home Geelong has allowed Lacey and I to combine our clinical backgrounds with a shared vision to provide personalised, professional in-home care that supports older Australians and individuals living with disability to remain safe, independent, and empowered in their own homes.”
Lacey progressed to the role of Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) before moving into the Education and Learning department where she completed postgraduate studies in clinical education. In recent years, Lacey has coordinated pre-registration programs for nursing students at St Vincent’s, leading a team of educators to support and mentor student nurses. She is now ready to channel my passion and expertise in nursing into building her own in-home care business together with Edwina.
“This decision is deeply personal as well as professional having seen the profound difference quality in-home support made for my mum through the NDIS,” Lacey says.
“I’m driven to create a service that empowers individuals and their families to live well and independently at home, supported by experienced and trusted professionals.
“I believe Right at Home will support Edwina and I to achieve this goal.”
At the heart of their service are the values that have guided Edwina and Lacey throughout their careers – respect, empathy, and continuity of care.
“We’re honoured to bring the trusted Right at Home model to the Geelong community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve,” Tamara says.
